Alfred Tetzlaff war und ist der Prototyp des deutschen Spießers. Im Jahre 1973 flimmerten Ekel Alfred, die dusselige Kuh Else, Rita und der langhaarige Anarchist Michael zum ersten Mal über den Bildschirm. Die Serie aus der Feder von Wolfgang Menge eroberte im Sturm die Herzen der Republik und wurde ein echter Straßenfeger. Zunächst lief “Ein Herz und eine Seele” nur in West 3 (heute WDR). Ab Silvester 1973 durfte Alfred dann in der ARD meckern und nörgeln. Einige Folgen wurden sowohl in Farbe als auch schwarz-weiß gezeigt. Bei späteren Wiederholungen der Serie wurden meist nur die bunten Versionen dieser zweimal gedrehten Episoden gesendet.
